“We can’t do everything ourselves, so we’ll still be doing most of our projects through licensing,” the global head of digital gaming adds.

The toy company Mattel, which created Barbie, has said that it would publish mobile games on its own.

Mike DeLaet, worldwide head of digital gaming at the firm, stated in an interview with GamesBeat that the company would start making announcements for its self-published titles later in 2024.
“We’ll choose our partners extremely carefully. We’re starting a co-development self-publishing project,” DeLaet stated.
“We’ll pay for the improvement. We’ll take care of the publication and provide the marketing funds. This will be in addition to our licensing company, our joint venture with NetEase, and Mattel 163.
According to DeLaet, “We’ll still continue to do most of our projects through licensing, and we can’t do everything ourselves.”

Though it may ultimately branch out to include Roblox and the Unreal Editor for Fortnite, Mattel is now concentrating on mobile games.

Among Mattel’s brands include Bob the Builder, Uno, and Hot Wheels.
