Affidea has purchased one dental aesthetics firm in Spain and two medical practices in Italy.

Affidea Group, an integrated healthcare provider, has acquired two healthcare facilities in Italy to expand patient access to diagnostic imaging, marking the company’s second European expansion.

The health system has purchased the Centro Medico Polispecialistico Italiano (DIAMEDICA) in Milan. For over 30 years, the facility has provided preventative, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitative therapy in a range of specializations, including MR, CT, ultrasound, and X-ray. It is near to Affidea’s existing clinic in the city, which offers further state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging services that are reimbursed by either federal or private funding.

The other new site for Affidea is DMT – Tuscolana Medical Diagnostics, a cutting-edge diagnostic imaging facility in Rome that offers X-ray scans along with a high-field 1.5T MR scanner and a 128-slice CT that can be utilized for any part of the body but is predominantly used for cardiac scans. The facility is close to other Affidea locations and situated in the Tuscolano Appio district.

Our number of locations around the nation has more than quadrupled to 61, and we now provide a wider range of healthcare and diagnostic services, which enhances our patients’ access to comprehensive treatment. According to a statement from Affidea Italy’s national CEO, Fabio Silo, “the acquisition of DIAMEDICA and DMT has strengthened our position in Lombardy and Lazio and brought new clinical capabilities to our network, allowing us to see even more patients.”

Affidea, which was established in 1991, is the biggest supplier of out-of-hospital, cancer care, and sophisticated diagnostic imaging services in Europe. Serving more than 2.4 million patients a year, the 61 Italian locations currently employ over 2,500 medical professionals.

Apart from growing in Italy, Affidea also bought the Barcelona, Spain-based dental aesthetics and implantology clinic, Institut Joan Autrán. With the combined effect of these three acquisitions, the company now has 356 European medical centers spread over 15 countries, employing 14,000 specialists who treat over 14 million patients a year.

The Clinica Atenea in the Valencia Region, which offers outpatient diagnostic services including MR scans, mammography, ultrasound, X-rays, DXA, and dental CT, is another purchase the provider just executed in Spain. In May of last year, it also purchased Instituo Radiologico Gandini, a women’s health and diagnostic imaging-focused Italian medical facility in Biella.

According to the corporation, it has acquired five properties in the first two months of 2024, including two in Italy and one in Spain. The others are Portuguese and Swiss medical establishments.

“We are utilizing our community-oriented approach to improve service availability and address the growing patient need for high-quality healthcare services. Guy Blomfield, executive chairman of the management board and CEO of Affidea, said in a statement, “We enrich our portfolio and maintain our high-quality services by incorporating centers with outstanding local recognition and diverse clinical expertise.”
