Has SOS mode suddenly been activated on your iPhone? You’re not by yourself! Social media users in the United States are reporting that AT&T, the service provider, is presently experiencing a nationwide outage that has left iPhones without service.

Fortunately, even if the SOS alert sounds serious, it doesn’t indicate that you’re in danger or that there is a state of emergency. When your cellular connection is lost, your iPhone enters SOS mode, allowing you to send or receive SOS calls or texts to emergency services alone.

Owners of iPhone 13 and older models will notice a “No service” indicator in instead of the SOS indicator.

The following regions are reportedly experiencing serious cellular problems, according to Downdetector.com:

  • Texas
  • Oklahoma
  • Kansas
  • Mississippi
  • Georgia
  • South Carolina

How to fix the iPhone SOS indicator during an ATT outage:

Sadly, with a national outage, there’s little you can personally do to resolve this. The fault should be in the process of being fixed by AT&T, and resolved ASAP.

However, you may be able to resolve the issue in certain areas by following our guide on SOS on iPhone: What it means and how to fix it.

Beyond this, it’s a waiting game while AT&T engineers try to work on a solution.
